Event Overview
CTBUH is excited to invite delegates to gather at 110 North Wacker, one of the city’s newest skyscrapers on the banks of the Chicago River. Hosted by the building owners and conference Diamond sponsor, Riverside Investment & Development, delegates will gather on the 55th floor overlooking downtown Chicago to discuss the local response needed for challenging global problems facing the urban realm, including addressing carbon footprint, the changing climate, social justice, and human health. Join delegates for a two-day event filled with robust educational sessions, multiple off-site programs and reconnect with colleagues at the networking reception.

INVEST South/West and the Neighborhood Opportunity Fund

During this inspiring offsite program, visit The Hatchery, one of the most socially engaged and innovative incubator spaces in Chicago. The day will focus on work being done to develop commercial corridors in 10 key under-invested Chicago neighborhoods, with presentations from The Hatchery, the Chicago Department of Planning and Development’s INVEST South/West initiative, and the city’s Neighborhood Opportunity Fund (NOF) program. On-site visits to an INVEST South/West site and an NOF project will bring the concepts discussed to life. The program will run from 7:30 am - 12:00 pm.

Ascent: The World's Next Tallest Timber-Concrete Building
700 East Kilbourn Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Currently under construction, Ascent in Milwaukee is next in line to become the tallest building to use mass timber as a primary structural element. Take the bus with CTBUH to Wisconsin’s metropolis to explore this landmark project where you can take a closer look at the intersection between natural materials and cutting-edge technology. See for yourself how the glue-laminated timber beams and columns, and cross-laminated timber floors, all come together into an elegant whole. This is an exceptional opportunity to see the details of mass timber construction on a seminal project. The program will run from 7:00 am - 2:00 pm, including bus transportation to Milwaukee and back to Chicago. NOTE: Attendees must wear solid, closed-toed shoes or they will be unable to participate.

Modern Design to Address Health & Wellness from the Ground Up
320 S. Canal St. and 10-30 S. Wacker Dr., Chicago, Illinois
This program will consist of visits to two buildings. A project site tour of 320 S. Canal will cover initial measures designed for the 1.5M square foot office high-rise adjacent to Union Station to improve indoor air quality before and during the COVID pandemic. The tour will cover how the fan room assemblies, tenant terraces and plaza, and the typical core and shell floor plates contributed to project’s WELL-Platinum certification. In addition, re-use and re-invention are essential to sustainable and ethical use of America’s aging urban infrastructure. By visiting the CME Center Lobby Repositioning Project at 10-30 S. Wacker, participants will see the repositioning of an aged lobby typology into a flexible, adaptable, and vibrant open urban living room. Completed in 1987, the CME Center occupies a full city block including two 45-story office towers connected by an 11-story podium. The lobby repositioning has enabled 95 percent occupancy despite the pandemic market condition. The program will run from 8:45 am – 12:00 pm. with a short six-block walk between the two buildings.

Payments: Registration payments are required to be paid in US Dollars (USD), at the rates portrayed, irrespective of daily exchange rate fluctuations. Registrations are not confirmed until payment is received. If a payment is not received within 24 hours of registration, then the registration may be canceled.
Cancellation Policy: A 100% refund, minus a $75 administrative cancellation fee (per delegate) will be given if written notice of cancellation is received by 8 October 2021. No refund will be given for cancellation after 8 October 2021 due to costs incurred by CTBUH for each delegate at that time. No refunds will be given for those who register at an incorrect rate. No refunds will be given for those who do not attend the conference. If you cannot attend the conference we are happy to accept a substitute colleague without penalty up to 13 October 2021. No substitutions are allowed after 13 October 2021. All refunds will be handled after the conference.
Reimbursement Policy: If a delegate wishes to remain registered but change their selections and this is possible within the terms of the Cancellation Policy above, then a US US$30 administration and bank fee (per delegate) will be charged on any reimbursement refund.
